Associate Counsel - Media Duties: Will serve as the primary legal point of contact in connection with the growing International Media business, focusing on the licensing of content (e.g., live games, Network & RedZone) throughout international markets and the continued development of strategic direct-to-consumer opportunities. Will provide key legal support for the licensing of data and other content in connection with media-related initiatives related to legalized sports betting, and for other League initiatives involving the cultivation of other proprietary data and emerging opportunities. Lastly, the position will provide other transactional support for the media business as required. Will report to the Senior Vice President/Media Counsel, work extensively with the Vice President/Media Counsel and interact with various other members of the legal department. Will partner closely with the International Media team and other League business executives in connection with the negotiation, drafting and administration of various agreements while interacting with counterparts at existing and potential partners throughout the world. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university/college and J.D. from an accredited law school. 5+ years experience in a transactional legal role at a top-tier law firm or major media company or sports/entertainment property, focusing on content distribution/licensing and rights agreements. Valid membership (in good standing) in New York or another state Bar. Strong contract drafting experience, including content distribution/licensing (across traditional and emerging platforms and models) with preference for international experience. Demonstrable command of, and experience navigating, key business and regulatory trends in the media/technology landscape. Experience working closely with senior business executives. Comfort and established proficiency with complex and multi-faceted agreements. Excellent negotiation, communication and project management skills. Organization, efficiency and attention to detail. Ability to handle diverse projects simultaneously with multiple stakeholders. Proven ability to think strategically and analytically. Strong candidates will possess a deep understanding of media trends across traditional and emerging platforms and will have experience negotiating and drafting complex rights agreements and interacting with leading media properties and distribution channels.
