Corporate Counsel - Labor and Employment The candidate will provide legal counsel to business units and functions on a broad range of labor, employment and benefits matters to anticipate and minimize legal exposures. Responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, policies and other legal documents; partnering with company personnel to properly evaluate, communicate and manage risks; develop and implement legal policies and procedures; assess and manage litigation and alternative dispute resolution; and provide proactive assistance to other attorneys on a wide range of issues. Provide legal counsel to and work closely with Human Resources and business units on a broad range of labor, employment and benefits matters, which will include recruiting, hiring, employee relations, discipline, terminations, leave, accommodations, compliance, wage and hour compliance, and training with regard to EEO policies such as harassment, discrimination, and anti-retaliation. Provide input into strategies for policy development and anticipating and managing risk around labor and employment matters. Prepare statements of position and required responses to EEOC, NLRB and state EEO commission charges. Provide legal support for union grievance and Employee Dispute Resolution mediations and arbitrations. Draft, analyze, review and negotiate agreements, contracts, policies and other documents. Partner with other attorneys and company personnel to properly evaluate, communicate and manage risk. Provide proactive assistance to other attorneys on a wide range of issues, including mine permitting issues. Assess and manage litigation and alternative dispute resolution, which will include supervising outside counsel to reduce legal risks and expense. Provide legal counsel to ensure compliance with OFCCP programs. Manage the development of the annual Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) for all U.S. establishments and ensure accurate internal workforce and transactional data. Train HR and Managers on compliance processes. Collaborate and consult with HR and business functions to provide oversight and guidance to align HR programs, practices, processes, and systems with EEO and AA policy objectives and laws. Other job duties and projects as assigned. J.D Law degree required. Admission to practice law in the U.S. is required. Admission to practice law in Florida preferred. 3+ years of employment law experience in a law firm or corporate law department required. Strong academic credentials required. Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) required.
