Litigation Counsel The candidate will be responsible for the competent, ethical, and diligent representation of company and its insureds in all assigned matters from inception of the litigation through appeal. The cases involve all aspects real estate title to include quiet title, easement and boundary rights, probate matters, secured transactions, lien priorities, contracts, taxes bankruptcy and escrow matters. Handle litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the claims department. Handle motions, arbitrations, bench trials, and jury trials commensurate with level of experience, including preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs, attendance at hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations and trials, and performance of any other tasks or duties necessary for the proper representation of clients. Maintain and update computerized litigation support system for assigned caseloads. Perform other functions as assigned.

The candidate should have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and be an active member and in good standing with the State Bar of California. Should preferably have first chair trial experience with a background in real estate litigation, title insurance and/or financial services. Detailed knowledge of California civil litigation practice, including local and state discovery rules, trial procedures and applicable substantive law commensurate with level of experience is requried. An active membership and in good standing to practice law in any of the following additional jurisdictions is a plus: Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Colorado, or Texas.
