Senior Privacy Counsel

Senior Privacy Counsel The candidate will proactively develop and be responsible for executing a comprehensive privacy compliance strategy for firm. Will provide privacy subject-matter expertise and guidance to both the legal team as well as to other internal firm's stakeholders. Assist with the review and integration of privacy by design principles. Partner with commercial legal team to provide privacy subject-matter support for inbound and outbound commercial agreements. Proactively monitor developments in privacy law - both within the United States and around the world - and preemptively develop and implement compliance plans. Be an ambassador and evangelist for privacy at firm's by delivering training and developing an educational curriculum focused on privacy. Respond to privacy and security related customer and regulatory inquiries and investigations as needed. Implement privacy best practices throughout the company - from ensuring that firm's continues to honor individual privacy rights requests to conducting privacy impact assessments. Manage/update internal privacy policies and procedures. Assist with other related compliance functions as needed. The candidate should have JD degree from a top law school and U.S-qualified. California Bar membership preferred. Must have 8+ years of experience working at a law firm counseling high-growth technology companies on privacy and/or working in-house at a technology company as privacy counsel. Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability both to assess risks quickly and to communicate those risks to business partners in clear, actionable fashion is required. Track record of taking initiative, having the ability to work independently, handle multiple projects with competing deadlines, and be comfortable thriving in ambiguity is required.
