Corporate Counsel (Legal) The candidate will assist the Vice President, Legal Officer and General Counsel and other members of the Legal, Compliance and Privacy Team in the administration of the company compliance program, including performance of risk assessments, auditing, monitoring, privacy investigations and remediation. Develop, draft, review and revise the company compliance program, code of conduct and related policies and procedures. Provide guidance to company management regarding compliance with applicable laws and company standards, policies and procedures, including laws governing fraud, waste and abuse (FWA), and provider compensation. Lead proactive investigation and evaluation of potential compliance issues, and implementation of remedial and preventive action. Coordinate with members of the Legal, Compliance and Privacy Team to anticipate and understand changing regulatory requirements and develop strategies to ensure continuing compliance with applicable laws. Assist the Vice President, Legal Officer and General Counsel in matters relating to company operations, including Medicare and Medicaid provider and supplier requirements, accreditation standards, quality assessments, medical staff credentialing and peer review, patient rights, and provider compensation. Assist the Vice President, Legal Officer and General Counsel and company stakeholders in structuring, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and closing of business transactions and operational agreements. Develop and implement educational tools and processes to facilitate executive and management decision-making within a clear legal and compliance framework.

The candidate should have Juris Doctor (JD) law degree from an accredited law school. Should have 3 - 5 years of healthcare experience in a law firm, governmental agency or in-house legal department (or combination thereof). Significant experience in and understanding of healthcare fraud, waste and abuse laws. Demonstrated experience with regulatory issue spotting, research, analysis, and guidance. The ability to communicate effectively and to provide legal analyses and guidance. The desire and ability to perform an educational function within the company. Admitted to the State Bar of Oregon OR at least one State Bar Admission (in good standing) AND the ability to gain admission to Oregon Bar or otherwise meet any applicable in-house counsel practice rules within one year of hire.
