Coverage Litigation Attorney The candidate will provide legal representation to the company in coverage disputes before courts, arbitration panels, or other bodies. Will advise Claim employees in their handling of coverage disputes, while maintaining responsibility for caseload completion and trial work of some complexity, whether by settlement, trial or appeal. Handle a consistent workload of coverage files representing Intact. Responsible for maintenance and completion of caseload and trial work of some complexity, whether by settlement, trial or appeal. Work with Senior Coverage Litigation Attorney on all aspects of litigated files including discovery, depositions, motion practice and trial. Conduct all appropriate legal action to best protect the interests of the company on all assigned cases in an ethical and zealous manner. Prepare appeals and perform necessary research on motions. Some authority to negotiate settlements with plaintiffs' attorneys. Interface and provide counsel to other Claims staff as cases develop through trial or resolution. Review and report all large cases to Managing Attorney, prepares timely reports as required and schedules/attends conferences with other Claims staff to review pending litigation. Maintain a strong professional knowledge of legal environments and applies this information effectively. Interface with and direct paralegals and other staff in the production of documents and litigation file management. Should have a J.D. degree. Must have 5-7 years of experience litigating coverage disputes. Substantial experience with research, discovery depositions, mediations and trial preparation is required. Trial experience in State and Federal Court is preferred.
