Litigation Attorney The candidate will represent the Company and its policyholders in civil litigation matters involving claims for money damages or compensation for personal injury or property damage of a moderate value with moderately complex legal issues. Core duties include: conducting necessary and appropriate discovery, hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations and similar proceedings. Researches the law applicable to cases or matters; drafts legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs and opinions as required. If requested, conducts settlement negotiations. Additional duties: Travel for appearances; Remain current with developments in the law; understand medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering or similar issues and defenses involved with cases or matters; Prepare and conduct training sessions for the Legal, Claims or other departments as required; Perform additional related duties and projects as required. Should possess extensive knowledge and experience in first party property claims and litigation, including 1st chair trial experience. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills required. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication, as well as strong negotiation skills required. Functional knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques required. Functional knowledge of law and insurance regulations in the State of Florida required. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school required. Licensed member of the Florida Bar in good standing with no disciplinary history required. 5 years of litigation experience required.
