Senior Counsel, Global Trade Compliance Responsibilities: Provide guidance and advice to ensure WDC and its subsidiaries, affiliates, and partners comply fully with all applicable trade laws and regulations, including the EAR, OFAC and other sanctions programs, TAA, CBP and other U.S. and international regulations. Ensure proper classification of WDC's products and related software and technologies, including those with encryption capabilities, and that the Company obtains U.S. Government licenses and classification determinations as required or appropriate. Provide guidance to the Global Trade Compliance and Trade Operations teams regarding proper classification under the HT and HTSUS systems and Customs reconciliation programs. Provide guidance and advice on legal entity structures with respect to trade compliance issues. Draft and review export license, classification, and other regulatory filings. Develop and implement trade compliance program continuous improvement activities. Draft and advise on trade compliance policies and procedures. Perform compliance risk assessments and tailor trade compliance programs to address such risks. Monitor legal, regulatory, and trade developments that impact WDC's business and provide legal guidance to mitigate impacts. Develop and execute risk-based trade compliance training and communications. Collaborate with various business functions (including colleagues in Legal, Finance/Tax, HR, Engineering, NPI, Supply Chain, Marketing and Sales, Corporate Strategy) to understand needs and build integrated, upstream and forward-looking trade compliance processes. Lead or participate in projects to enhance trade compliance efficiency and value contribution. Contribute to the development of compliance roadmap and strategic planning. Promote a business culture of trade compliance and ethics and conduct other compliance activities.

Qualifications: Trade compliance experience with emphasis on EAR, OFAC economic and trade sanctions programs, TAA, CBP regulations, FTRs, and other trade law compliance, as well as ethics and compliance program management and/or development. 4+ years of practice in a law firm or as an in-house attorney. J.D. or equivalent degree from accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in United States (California or Washington D.C., preferred). Advised clients in the navigation of complex trade issues. Researched areas of complex trade law, made recommendations and provided advice based on independent analysis of the issues. Experience in and knowledge of EAR (especially Categories 3 and 5) and export controls generally, OFAC economic and trade sanctions programs, TAA, CBP regulations, FTRs, classification (hardware and software). Working knowledge of Encryption and Mass Market classification determinations. Knowledge of export regulations of countries other than U.S., a plus. Experience with ethics and compliance program management and/or development, a plus. Experience working, managing and driving multi-functional projects to completion. Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with engineering and R&D teams. Ability to make good decisions based on sound judgement. Able to work independently with little supervision. Skilled in MS Office suite of products (including MS Teams), productivity and collaboration applications, Jive, Box, Webex, Jabber.
