Counsel - Environmental Duties: Work with environmental/permitting/safety managers to ensure compliance in the BU. Act as liaison with government agencies and attorneys with regard to environmental/permitting/safety matters. Research and interpret relevant laws, rulings and regulations. Provide legal advice and, when necessary, manage outside legal services, on various claims/litigation, administrative law, commercial, regulatory and strategic planning issues that may affect the Alaska BU and the Company, especially in relation to environmental permitting and compliance work and enforcement action. Negotiate with environmental/permitting/safety regulators. Support corporate sustainability programs and initiatives. Participate in transactional due diligence. Negotiate agreements, including but not limited to permits, consent decrees, and other similar agreements. Collaborate with other Company counsel on broader environmental/permitting/safety matters involving other BUs. Collaborate with senior management and various operations personnel including participation in project and asset teams. Support Company participation via the External & Governmental Affairs Group in industry advocacy groups on environmental/safety matters.

Qualifications: JD Degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association or foreign equivalent. Licensed by state law to practice in Alaska, or a state that grants reciprocity with Alaska. 5+ years of legal experience in the regulatory environmental, health and safety area. Preferred: 7+ years of direct experience in oil and gas environmental/permitting/safety law (upstream and midstream). Experience with Alaska state law or federal law specific to Alaska on environmental/permitting/safety issues relevant to the upstream and midstream oil and gas industry. Experience in practice before EPA, DOI, USF&WS, ADEC, AOGCC, AK DNR or other similar regulatory agencies. Work under minimal supervision. Strong initiative along with excellent communication and analytical skills. Ability to handle multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment. Closing date: July 7, 2020
