Senior Counsel, Environmental Law Duties: Work closely with businesses and other support functions, including the EHS&S group, and will be directly responsible for providing legal counsel and support for the following: real estate and site related environmental issues; supply chain related environmental issues; remediation of historical contamination; environmental product and packaging regulations; sustainability goals; engagement with investors, NGOs, and other external stakeholders; and emerging policy related environmental issues. Identifying, assessing and, as appropriate, influencing relevant laws and regulations as well as training management and operations teams on these issues. Help ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory frameworks as well as our commitments to protect and maintain the environment and natural resources. Assume such other responsibilities as align with the successful candidate s background and other areas of expertise. Working with others within the Law Department as well as functional groups, will also continually keep abreast of legal and regulatory developments to ensure that legal support provided is innovative, agile, and appropriately adapted to the evolving environment.

Qualifications: A JD degree and U.S. state bar membership in good standing are required. 7-10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, in-house and/or at a law firm, with direct, and significant hands-on experience providing legal counseling on EHS&S matters globally, including working with governmental agencies, NGOs, or external stakeholders on these issues. Experience in the multinational healthcare industry is helpful and preferred. Ability to collaborate with business partners, stakeholders, internal attorneys, and outside counsel is required. A proactive approach to understanding, evaluating, and advising on complex EHS&S legal matters is critical. Experience working with senior-level stakeholders and cross-functional teams and achieving results through influence and collaboration. Ability to work effectively in large, matrixed organizations. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and professional demeanor and discretion. Strong analytical, communication and collaborative skills. Must be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated, and able to work independently under time pressures in a fast-paced and evolving legal climate. Must be committed to demonstrating the highest ethical standards in all interactions, including with colleagues, peers, stakeholders, business partners, and external parties. Experience with the following is preferred: The major U.S. federal environmental programs, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, CERCLA, TSCA, and RCRA; Prominent international programs, including REACH, RoHS, and WEEE; Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting, as well as ESG standard setting and ratings organizations; Extended producer responsibility regimes; Pharmaceuticals in the environment; and Key state-level environmental programs, such as California Prop 65.
