Deputy General Counsel - Government Contracts Duties: Active support of and advice on all types of government contracts including bid and proposal advice, contract changes (requests for equitable adjustments), compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement, government contract litigation protests and disputes, teaming agreements, organizational conflict of interest issues, Other Transaction Agreements (OTAs), and the creation and implementation of firewall agreements and compliance matters, will support other business matters including program execution and performance. Will also support subcontract negotiations and support our global supply chain personnel. Performs other duties and assignments as required, including, implementing standards for effective legal and contract strategy, conducting legal investigations relating to government contracts, managing outside counsel, interpreting and disseminating information on proposed or actual legislation and regulations, with emphasis on government contract law and providing legal training to business leaders and professionals on government contracts topics. Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing of a State Bar. 1 year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. 7+ years of experience with a law firm, corporation or government organization with a practice area emphasis in government contracts. Must have experience in other specialty areas, such as commercial contracts, counseling and advice, litigation, corporate transactions, compliance programs, and international law. Experience handling privacy issues desirable. Must perceive the legal function as an integral contributor to the success of the organization and be accustomed to taking the lead in devising and implementing innovative solutions to management issues. This presupposes the ability to develop an in-depth appreciation for and understanding of the essential elements of the business and the various elements that drive business activities. Must be a self-starter and able to work semi-autonomously. Outstanding organization, client management, and written and verbal communication skills are essential. An effective team member with well-developed capabilities to influence people and delivering successful results.
