Regulatory Compliance Attorney Duties: Understand the applicable vehicle regulations - FMVSS, UN regulations and Global Technical Regulations (GTRs) and Nikola Design Requirements. Accurately assess and manage risk through knowledge of Nikola's Regulatory and Compliance requirements and relevant legal issues. Read, interpret, summarize, monitor, and track new or pending regulations and communicate to the appropriate people. Investigate and propose a direction and action regarding potential issues of noncompliance. Monitor governmental compliance concerns/inquiries with Nikola Motor, drafts response documents, presents Nikola's case to government, and expedites the resolution of pending governmental action. Coordinate, oversee and manage the resolution of compliance and regulatory incidents, including providing escalation and resolutions support and services, relating to the services and the Systems. Participate in business unit-aligned working group meetings with government relations and other compliance functions to discuss legislative and regulatory activities and developments. Create, update, and review policies and procedures to ensure that the company is operating in compliance with regulations and that regulatory reporting requirements are met. Provide legal counsel on cross-functional and cross-operating company projects and initiatives. Develop and deliver presentations and training to employees, including management. Qualifications: 6 years experience practicing as a licensed attorney at a law firm, corporation or with the government in the field of Automotive or Trucking industry compliance. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the applicable vehicle regulations. The ability to identify significant legal exposures for the company while maintaining a practical approach to protecting against them. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and high-level executives and board members. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple, high priority projects with a keen attention to detail and within a demanding environment. Aptitude and motivation for staying current with regulatory changes in automotive, truck, and/or off-road vehicle manufacturing.
