Principal, Associate General Counsel - Employment Duties: Partner with internal clients to create proactive strategies designed to avoid or minimize exposure to legal liability. Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations, and ensure legal compliance as it relates to the noted areas of law. Manage and supervise representation of the company's position before federal, state, and local government agencies regarding the noted areas of law. Stay current with legal developments, best practices, and benchmarks in the noted areas of law and assist internal clients in implementing policies and procedures in response thereto. Deliver expert legal counsel on labor and employment matters to the corporation. Provide support and timely advice on the full range of employment law issues, including leaves of absence and accommodations. Provide oversight on investigations to ensure they are appropriately assigned, investigated, and resolved promptly in compliance with internal procedures. Leverage experience to identify and proactively manage employee relations matters, including the delivery of relevant training. Manage relationships with external labor and employment counsel, including invoice review and approval. Deliver legal advice related to worker health and safety, including but not limited to OSHA regulations and state and local laws. Strategically manage and provide legal support as needed for employment litigation. Remain current on legal and business developments and share appropriately with the HR team and business partners, including providing training as needed. Participate in the development of policies and projects with significant organizational impact; influence company-wide direction.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited law school with admission to the Texas bar. Admitted to the California bar (but not required) or at least be familiar with California law, and have some global employment law experience. 8-10 years of experience representing employers in employment law matters (including employment litigation). Labor & Employment Laws: Title VII, ADA, ADEA, OWBPA, FMLA, USERRA, FLSA, FCRA, OSHA, ERISA, COBRA, workers compensation, restrictive covenants, unemployment, NLRA, WARN, immigration compliance, AAP's and OFCCP regulations, and related state and local labor and employment laws. Knowledge of the broad range of factors that could impact the employee/employer relationship. Ability to oversee related investigations and oversee implementation of appropriate resolutions. Demonstrated leadership in the field of employment law including experience with employment-related aspects of M&A/Divestitures/Outsourcing preferred. Ability to positively influence behavior of multiple stakeholders, as well as to successfully balance the interests of employees with maintaining appropriate legal and fiscal positions for the company. Ability to think strategically and creatively, to identify and resolve legal issues efficiently, possess and apply knowledge of the business. Must be able to handle company confidential information and data requiring the highest degree of attention to preserve confidentiality. Experience with international employment law issues preferred. Excellent communication, decision-making, collaboration, and influencing skills. Strong business acumen, analytical skills.
