Counsel - Intellectual Property The candidate will provide counsel and advise clients on a broad range of various domestic and international intellectual property issues across company's business. Manage patent portfolios that facilitate growth, including managing and instructing global outside counsel, making decisions on strategic filings and prosecution. Manage trademark portfolios, including managing and instructing global outside counsel, making decisions on strategic filings and prosecution. Prepare and negotiate intellectual property related agreements and support other agreements from the intellectual property perspective, such as sourcing, commercial, etc. Assist with patent evaluation screening and review boards and develop appropriate business-wide procedures to harvest, protect and defend intellectual property. Provide IP training to the business, including subjects on patents, copyrights, trade secrets and related matters. Work with the Engineering and technical teams to make freedom to operate decisions in a timely manner. Assist with reviews of technical papers and marketing claims and materials. Assess IP risks and assist with IP litigation. The candidate should have Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Admission to and member in good standing of a state bar in the US. Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Should have 3 5 years active practice, in the intellectual property field, with increasing activities including experience in patent and trademark areas, drafting, preparing and negotiating intellectual property agreements, working with the business teams at all levels. BS/MS degree in Engineering, Chemical a plus. Sound judgment in developing and implementing legal process-driven solutions. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Able to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Must be able to work independently and efficiently handling multiple priorities in a time pressured environment. Established analytical ability. Strong commitment to integrity and professionalism. Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently and timely complete projects. A superior academic record and work history that affirmatively demonstrates leadership and ability to push others to deliver on commitments. Substantial experience with and ability to use legal related technology. Experience advising on cybersecurity and data protection matters, drafting and the review of IT related agreements - including SaaS, license, cloud technology. Experience and familiarity within the industrial water business and related technologies.
