Associate General Counsel - Regulatory And Compliance

Associate General Counsel - Regulatory and Compliance Duties: Provide legal advice to the consumer credit card business, including as relates to drafting and review of disclosures and terms for card products, interpreting federal and state legal requirements, supporting negotiations of third-party contracts with service providers and technology partners, reviewing legal issues with new and expanding business initiatives. Conduct extensive legal research and draft formal and informal correspondence and memoranda. Partner with the business to develop and implement new initiatives to enhance products, services and customer experiences. Proactively advise on potential risks, spot legal and regulatory issues, and advise on compliant strategies to manage and grow the business. Collaborate with business and risk/compliance partners to draft and update business policies and procedures. Provide practical and strategic legal advice and support on business matters in a fast-paced and regulated environment. Maintain a high level of professionalism, outstanding business judgment and strategic thought/growth-minded leadership and innovative approaches to legal issues that align with business initiatives and objectives. Provide counsel on state licensing requirements. Perform additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned. Supervise outside counsel as appropriate.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an ABA accredited law school. Active and in good standing VA bar license. 7-10 years experience practicing in a large law firm or dynamic in-house environment with concentration on consumer finance/credit card regulatory practice . Current license and in good standing to practice law. Significant regulatory experience with federal and state consumer financial laws and regulations, including FCRA/Reg V, TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP, BSA/AML, SCRA, GLBA, TCPA, FDCPA and state privacy and servicing/debt collection laws. Familiar with credit card account originations and issuance, review of marketing and consumer disclosures, digital applications and wallets, card servicing such as bill pay, payment processing, consumer privacy and information security, and credit bureau reporting. Excellent computer-assisted research and analytical skills with a focus on problem solving. Well-organized, proactive self-starter able to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously with competing and changing deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively present information to and interact with all levels of management. Displays growth mindset and a high-degree of mature, self-direction and ability to work independently or as part of a team. Independent thinker with strong analytical skills and ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environment. Able to effectively prioritize work and business needs and adapt to change/resilient. Demonstrates strong sense of ethics and integrity. Proficient with basic computer applications, including Google Suites and Microsoft Office products. Able to participate in periodic overnight travel. Should have: Most recent 5+ years experience advising on regulatory requirements applicable to consumer credit card products. Experience independently handling state licensing program, including through use of the NMLS system. Able to draft and negotiate commercial agreements with technology partners and service providers.
