Associate General Counsel - Privacy And Compliance

Associate General Counsel - Privacy and Compliance Duties: Support the maintenance and continued development of the Company's privacy program, including the Company's compliance with various privacy laws (specifically including GDPR), development of contract templates, data diligence, drafting and review of PIAs/DPIAs, and review and development of policies and procedures. Provide advice to all levels of the Company in all areas of privacy and compliance, advising on issues and risks, deal structures, negotiation strategy, and policies and procedures, and using concepts that the business can understand. Integrate with various lines of business to ensure activities are consistent with approved privacy and compliance program requirements. Assist with the design and implementation of Viasat's lawful intercept program, including establishing procedures to comply with international lawful intercept and data retention obligations.

Requirements: JD Degree or equivalent with excellent academic credentials. 2+ years ? prior experience, preferably in a privacy and compliance in-house practice with a global technology, ISP, or telecommunications business, or in a law firm serving such companies. Experience with and expertise in privacy law (specifically including GDPR, and also the CCPA, LGPD, and similar laws). An understanding of technology-related compliance frameworks (NIST, ISO, and PCI), consumer law, and telecommunications law. Excellent administrative and organizational skills with attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, together with the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under deadline pressure. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; must be able to ask clear, concise questions involving complex technology to get requisite answers from business partners and Legal Department colleagues. Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced corporate environment. When circumstances again allow, the ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of time, including international travel. Preferences: Recognized privacy training and/or certification, including CIPP/E and/or CIPP/US. Experience with data mapping, PIAs/DPIAs, and tools to track diligence and risk assessments. Specific experience with lawful intercept and document retention requirements and regulations.
