Assistant General Counsel - Labor And Employment The candidate will provide strategic legal advice to the Vice President Legal and Compliance and the Human Resources Department. Will be responsible for the company's Labor & Employment matters with minimal supervision. Has responsibility for legal compliance and advice for all areas relating to employee relations, recruitment, employee benefits, labor relations and employee privacy such as HIPAA, trade secrets, non-competes, etc. Provide counseling and advice to Human Resources concerning employee relations on a day-to-day basis, including labor relations, collective bargaining, regulatory compliance. Represent company in litigation matters. Supervise outside counsel in all labor arbitrations to ensure timely and successful resolution in collaboration with functional partners and in alignment with organizational objectives and strategy. Prepare all employment-related agreements, such as severance agreements. Represent the company with regard to all charges filed with government agencies. Provide training concerning legal compliance. Investigate, or supervise the investigation of, ethics and compliance related issues. Ensure compliance with ERISA with regard to all employee benefit plans; including defined contribution and benefit plans. Propose and assist in the drafting of new human resource policies. Ensure compliance of all Human Resource policies and data privacy with applicable statutes and regulations. Education: Law - Juris Doctor. Annual renewal of license to practice law in North Dakota, Minnesota, Georgia or other state(s). 7+ years experience as a practicing labor and employment attorney. Prior in-house experience preferred. Must possess superb legal skills and expertise, business judgment, verbal and written communication skills. Must possess strong initiative as well as excellent management, teamwork, delegation and problem-solving abilities. Strong working knowledge of multi-jurisdictional employment law requirements, and experience with the requirements of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans With Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, National Labor Relations Act, OFCCP regulations, OSHA and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
