Counsel - Litigation and Labor Employment Duties: Responsible for litigation management, including oversight of outside counsel, developing and implementing litigation strategy on a wide variety of day-to-day litigation matters and working with various business units to provide risk assessments and reduce litigation exposure. Manage and evaluate outside counsel, establish and manage budgets and control costs. Advise company management as necessary with respect to litigation matters, including with respect to loss reserves. Coordinate litigation discovery, including litigation hold compliance, collection of responsive documents, interviews, depositions, interrogatories, etc.. Provide pre-litigation counseling and dispute resolution negotiation. Lead internal investigations involving compliance and ethics-related matters, including conducting interviews and preparing reports and opinions based on findings. Identify trends and emerging issues, and analyze new legislation, regulations and court decisions impacting the company's operations. Work on various projects as the General Counsel may assign from time to time, including corporate compliance projects, projects with members of the executive leadership team and department management projects. Employment. Advise North America HR department on employment issues and work with internal clients and outside counsel to ensure compliance with all employment-related matters. Serve as trusted advisor to the business, providing advice and counsel on employment law issues including hiring, discipline, terminations, pay and benefits. Counsels HR, local management and supervisors on handling employee relations matters, including employee counseling, and discipline issues. Manage and support outside counsel in the prosecution or defense and resolution of employment related claims and litigation. Provide legal support to HR in the investigation and preparation of responses to administrative claims. Review and provide input on corporate employment policies and procedures, including impacts of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, state Worker's Compensation and Employment discrimination laws. Assist in developing, implementing, improving and reviewing ethics and compliance training.

Qualifications: JD Degree; admitted to practice law in at least one state; eligible for admission to Illinois bar as in-house lawyer. 5+ years ? experience. Substantial experience with commercial litigation. Wide-ranging employment law counseling experience. Pragmatic, solutions-minded advocate. Quick study with unbounded curiosity. Team player, willing to pitch in wherever needed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organization skills (balancing multiple projects/priorities). Basic understanding of business concepts and desire to learn more.
