Senior Counsel - Healthcare Compliance

Senior Counsel - Healthcare Compliance Duties: Understanding the landscapes relevant to, and challenges and threats faced by, Company's diverse and evolving businesses in different jurisdictions. Advising on the design, development, implementation, and operation of company-wide compliance programs and initiatives. Supporting the Chief Compliance Officer as liaison to the legal team and legal advisor for the compliance program. Advising on frameworks for risk assessments, control mapping and testing, and compliance program governance and reporting as well as other compliance infrastructure considerations. Understanding business strategies, processes, and operational considerations in order to help devise pragmatic control safeguards. Advising on alignment and integration of compliance operations and business practices across risk verticals. Advising business partners, and compliance colleagues on legal and regulatory compliance matters across the company, including in the areas regulated by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, the Anti-Kickback Statute, sunshine laws, the False Claims Act, and other laws and regulations applicable to healthcare companies. Providing support for privileged needs of the compliance team, including, but not limited to, directing privileged investigations and other reviews. Supporting compliance-related government investigations and inquiries. Participating as necessary in the delivery of healthcare compliance trainings. Reviewing and advising on pending and developing healthcare laws and regulations, and developing strategies for addressing same. Partnering with the Litigation Group and outside counsel on strategy for and management of compliance-related litigation. Communicating with healthcare regulators and representing and participating in meetings with such regulators on behalf of Company.

Requirements: 10+ years relevant experience as a practicing healthcare regulatory or compliance attorney. Experience in healthcare compliance and program counseling, enforcement and defense. Blend of large law firm and government experience preferred; in-house experience desirable. Strong preference for experience in the healthcare, medical device, or pharmaceutical industries. Ability to communicate effectively with, and gain the trust of, business leaders and legal and compliance colleagues. Ability to collaborate and build relationships with legal and business colleagues of varying levels of seniority and sophistication regarding healthcare compliance matters. Proactive, solution-oriented approach with change management track record. Excellent legal and business judgment, strategic thinking, and organizational savvy. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced team environment. Agility in managing multiple projects in an efficient and timely manner. Ability to manage external counsel efficiently. Juris Doctor Degree with excellent academic credentials. Member of a state bar in good standing.
