Corporate Counsel Responsibilities: Provide legal services to primarily the commercial, clinical and corporate functions, including the review, editing, drafting and negotiation of contracts. Prepare contracts, memoranda and other legal documents; maintain department contact to receive work, render opinions, and consult and advise. Contribute to developing and maintaining ongoing relationships and accountability for the unit(s) being served. Counsel management, as appropriate, with oversight of more senior counsel. Assist with handling legal tasks and projects involving complex legal, business and factual issues for which sound legal judgment, experience, and independent reasoning is required. Evaluate information, and provide research, counsel, and guidance on legal questions or issues. Develop policies related to health care compliance. Assist with other general legal matters, as appropriate. Be able to integrate and balance big-picture concerns with day-to-day activities. Accomplish and resolve matters through formal organizational channels and through informal networks. Be an internal resource capable of practically applying technical expertise to real business problems and/or opportunities. Continue to develop in-depth knowledge and functional expertise in select professional disciplines. Surface problems and issues before projects become derailed. Address business partner needs by involving the right people (resources) at the right time, understanding the ultimate objectives, being responsive and developing creative solutions. Requirements: JD Degree required with 3-5 years of experience in house in a mid to large sized legal department or a recognized firm with a corporate practice. Must be licensed to practice law and in good standing. Pharmaceutical or biotech experience preferred. Excellent written and oral communication, contract drafting and editing, and negotiation skills. Strong analytical ability, critical and strategic thinking skills and attention to detail and project management skills to ensure appropriate execution.
