Compliance Attorney Duties: Develops, initiates, maintains, and revises policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct. Develops and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees. Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Title, Closing, Post-Closing, Sales, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution. Responds to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Standards of Conduct by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develops and oversees a system for uniform handling of such violations. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance Issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved. Directs efforts to respond to audit requests at the Federal, State, and underwriter level, managing relationships with external auditors for provision of required materials, reports, and data calls. Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future. Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the President, senior management, and outside investors informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts. Ensures proper reporting of complaints, complaint resolution, violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required. Institutes and maintains an effective compliance communication program for the organization, including communication/training/education to aid in understanding of new and existing compliance issues and related policies and procedures. Responsible for ongoing licensure of the organization as a title insurance agency in various states as well as key management personnel who are licensed as title insurance agents in various states. Collecting information and evidence for decision making of management and researches complex title issues or industry changes. Assist operations with demand letters for shortages and party engagement for corrections. Oversight on delayed recordings, file balance, stale checks, remittance, policy inventory, reconciliations, audit findings. Provides the organization with effective legal services, advice, and representation for legal issues and questions of appropriate practice and procedure in every state where the organization is licensed or practicing business. Furnishing legal counsel and advice. Giving advice regarding the law. Drafting and reviewing general legal documents for use on the corporate level for general business matters. Drafting, reviewing, and approving legal documents for use on a transactional level including deeds, deed certifications, affidavits, etc. Applying for registration or copyrights of the trademarks of the organization. Collecting information and evidence for decision making of management. Examining material, such as publications, advertisements etc., for legal implications. Representing the organization before title insurance underwriters and/or government agencies.

Requirements: Licensed Attorney. 5+ years of Title/real Estate Experience. Knowledge of Resware is preferred. Excellent oral communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal/external customers. Detail oriented. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary internal and external customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Knowledge of basic computer programs to include Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and Microsoft Outlook. Must possess the ability to work efficiently, accurately, and independently. Proven success in a fast-paced environment. Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate.
