Litigation Counsel

Litigation Counsel Duties: Assist with a variety of issues core to growing business. Work intimately with teams across the company, including Communications, Customer Experience, Fleet, Insurance, People, Public Policy, Risk, and Trust & Safety. Manage and track administrative litigation, including local, state, and national agency investigations; insurance claims (e.g, workers compensation, unemployment, and third-party claims); and assist with wage & hour and commercial suits. Work cross-functionally to build out new and scalable processes within the department and provide interdepartmental counsel to help our product teams address an evolving regulatory landscape.

Requirements: 5+ years legal experience practicing in-house or at a large or mid-sized law firm; Admission to California Bar; Experience engaging in pre-litigation dispute resolution and litigation involving personal injury and insurance-related claims; Experience managing complex civil litigation; Experience responding to unemployment claims, workers compensation claims, insurance claims, and agency charges; Enthusiasm to balance business strategy with legal risk; Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey legal advice to internal business stakeholders; A collaborative, fast-paced style with the ability to work autonomously. Preferred: Prior in-house experience and/or gig economy clients as outside counsel; Experience in the tech industry, particularly the on-demand economy; Experience counseling on regulatory compliance; Experience advising/counseling on employment matters; Experience with privacy and security compliance. Must be detail-oriented, efficient, organized, and a team player. Will require high levels of independent work, but will also need to take direction easily, work cross-functionally with multiple teams, and maintain a sense of humor.
