Position: Legal & Compliance - Employment Counsel Responsibilities: Negotiates and drafts complex and creative employment agreements, offer letters, deferred compensation arrangements, incentive compensation arrangements, and severance agreements. Provides legal advice to the business on matters related to federal, state, and local employment statutes and regulations, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Wage and Hour Laws, anti-discrimination laws, and applicable state and local statutes and regulations across Rockefeller's rapidly expanding geographic footprint. Monitors federal, state, and local developments in employment law, and apprises key stakeholders of emerging best practices in employment law. Monitors market trends, and apprises key stakeholders of market trends and best practices for employment documents, including employment agreements and policies. Provides practical guidance to the Rockefeller Human Capital team and Rockefeller business units on day-to-day employment and workforce issues, such as issues related to internal investigations, employee discipline, workforce training, employee leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, and worker classification issues. Assists the Rockefeller Human Capital team with drafting and maintaining the Rockefeller Employee Handbook and compliant employment policies and procedures. Partners with the Rockefeller Human Capital team and Rockefeller business units to develop and implement legally compliant employment practices from recruitment through separation. Provides relevant employment law training to business partners. Provides general corporate legal support to the dynamic and growing business units of .

The candidate must have JD Degree from an accredited law school and a member in good standing with a State Bar. Must have 3 years of employment law experience at a top law firm; prior in-house experience not required. Should have prior experience taking primary responsibility for employment-related contracts from drafting through execution. Must have working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment statutes and regulations. Prior experience directly counseling clients, particularly senior executives, a plus. Should have working knowledge of Code Section 409A and/or ERISA a plus. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Must have superior legal drafting skills. Must able to interface effectively with, and provide practical counsel to, cross-functional stakeholders, including senior executives, client advisors, members of the Human Capital team, members of the Finance team, and fellow members of the Legal & Compliance team. Highly independent and decisive; able and eager to be the leading enterprise voice on employment law issues. Should be adaptable; able and eager to operate in a dynamic environment also tackling emerging issues.
