Compliance and Litigation Counsel The candidate will play a key role in supporting growth as a public company. Primary areas of focus will include regulatory compliance, litigation and escalated customer disputes, privacy and data security, marketing and IP, and contract negotiation and review. Work on company's regulatory compliance strategy, including conducting research on applicable laws and regulations relating to automobile dealers, consumer finance, consumer protection, privacy and other areas. Conduct internal compliance investigations, risk assessments, and audits. Provide advice and assistance in the implementation of company-wide compliance programs, initiatives and trainings. Handle escalated customer disputes in coordination with customer support. Review marketing materials for compliance with consumer protection laws. Assist in building and managing IP portfolio. Manage litigation matters. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements. Collaborate with and manage outside counsel where applicable. The candidate should have J.D. from a top-tier law school. Must be member of the NY bar and in good standing,. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience is required. Should have experience with litigation and regulatory matters, including relevant state and federal regulations, such as TCPA, FCRA, TILA, ECOA and UDAP. Experience developing approaches to legal challenges while providing business-focused legal advice is required. should have experience learning new areas of law and regulation in a variety of jurisdictions. Excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Should preferable have An understanding of the auto or consumer finance industry. Litigation experience before federal or state regulatory bodies and federal or state courts is desired. Both law firm and in-house experience preferred. Contract experience a plus. Privacy experience a plus. Familiarity with state automotive licensing a plus.
