Senior Legal Attorney Editor, Real Estate, National Leasing The candidate will take on a leadership role for the Practical Law Real Estate service by driving content planning and development of new resources for attorneys handling routine and sophisticated national leasing matters. Develop, write, and edit a wide variety of know-how and current awareness resources on real estate matters (including practice guidance notes, standard documents, checklists, and legal updates) for practicing attorney-subscribers, with a focus on national commercial leasing resources. Monitor national legal developments and legal practice trends in commercial leasing matters and general real estate matters, with the overarching goal of ensuring our coverage is current, accurate, and relevant. Collaborate with other Practical Law editors on content planning and priorities to meet the practice needs of real estate lawyers, and to identify and develop new high-value national resources covering in particular national commercial leasing matters, and a wide variety of additional topics such as, acquisitions, sales, development, and financing of commercial real estate. Help us develop and maintain national, and state-specific, real estate resources to serve all markets. Establish and maintain relationships with external national real estate lawyers to find content contributors and to ensure that the real estate content is topical and meets their needs. Stay informed of current developments and issues in real estate nationally, to ensure timely updates of existing content and development of new content. Work with sales and marketing teams to promote the Practical Law Real Estate service. Work remotely from home on a permanent basis - anywhere in the United States. Will be required to undertake writing and editing samples and provide a list of relevant commercial leasing transactions. 6 years recent commercial leasing experience working as a real estate attorney in a national law firm, including experience at either a large firm with a real estate group or a boutique firm with a sophisticated multistate real estate leasing practice, representing both landlords and tenants. A clear focus on real estate matters, with an emphasis on handling drafting and negotiating sophisticated real estate transactions nationally, with an emphasis on national commercial leasing transactions. Actively licensed to practice law in a jurisdiction within the United States. Strong academic credentials. Significant and broad expertise and recent practice experience in national commercial leasing real estate transactions, optimally including in addition to commercial leasing, the handling of routine and complex commercial real estate acquisitions, sales, development, and financing transactions. A passion for writing and strong editing skills, including: excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English; strong technical drafting skills; and the ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply. Ability to constantly collaborate with and support team members in a remote environment. Ability to operate efficiently in a remote/VPN environment without on-site technical support.
