Legal Counsel- Labor & Employment Duties: To provide strategic advice and legal counseling regarding labour and employment issues, and to partner with the business to strategically handle and manage the Company's labor and employment litigation, claims, and disputes in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. Provide subject matter expertise, strategic advice and legal counsel regarding labour and employment issues, including complex leave of absence and disability accommodation issues, discrimination, harassment and retaliation, hiring practices, performance management, family medical leave, wage and hour laws, contingent workers, internal investigations; state sick leave laws and other leaves of absence. Provide guidance regarding and participate in the Company's internal Employment Dispute Procedure process for addressing and resolving disputes with employees. Represent the Company at the administrative level including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and U.S. Department of Labor, and equivalent state and local agencies, which includes preparing position statements. Review and interpret employment related Company policies and procedures. Review involuntary terminations and draft separation agreements. Assist in the preparation of various legal training courses. Qualifications: Law degree from an accredited law school. Active bar license/qualification/admission and member in good standing with relevant bar association. 4-10 years of experience as labour and employment lawyer. Union experience is preferred. Federal EEOC experience is required (experience repsonding to EEOC enquires/state agency). Experience of successfully engaging with executive and senior business leadership/management and other key stakeholders. Responsive and reliable; accountable; ability to see the big picture. Detail oriented and analytical; creative. Possess excellent communication skills (oral and written); proactive style. Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment. Demonstrates sound judgment in delivering legal opinions, managing cases, and interacting with internal business clients and stakeholders. Ability to mitigate risks effectively through positive decision making. Unposting Date: Nov 8, 2020
