Counsel 4 - Litigation Regulatory Enforcement & Investigations Division Duties: Manage a case load providing advice on strategic litigation risks associated with actions filed involving transactions secured by consumer real estate, with an emphasis on class actions. Ensure an effective working relationship with business clients to be trusted legal advisor on all aspects of each litigated matter, providing timely and high quality legal advice and analysis. Manage work in a way that provides adequate support and coverage in alignment with the risks and priorities of each matter. Report, track, and update all required litigated matters, and ensure accurate and timely reports on all necessary matters. Partner and collaborate closely with other teams and sections in the Consumer Banking Division, and other colleagues within the Legal Department. Develop and maintain relationships with senior business leaders, risk and compliance partners, and other business support functions, and collaborate with them closely in support of the strategic litigation priorities.

Qualifications: Active State Bar membership. 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney; or 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and 2+ years of legal-related experience in one or a combination of the following areas: risk, compliance, contracts, government, regulatory, financial services, or technology. Desired: Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters. Extensive experience conducting research and providing counsel and guidance regarding complex legal issues. Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters. Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration. Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team. 2+ years of relevant legal experience working on class action matters, particularly in a financial services corporate law department or law firm. Extensive knowledge and understanding of research, counsel, and guidance on complex legal questions and class action issues within mortgage or consumer lending. Ability to analyze legal issues in litigated matters and provide effective advice to clients on complex legal matters, including mitigation of risk. Confident, shows initiative, yet willing to take direction from other attorneys with a customer-oriented manner of interacting with coworkers. Understanding of reputation risk. Major law firm and/or in-house experience with a financial institution. Willingness to expand substantive legal knowledge. Close Date: 10/30/2020
