Litigation Counsel Responsibilities: Provides in-house legal support to the VP and AGC via autonomous management and decision-making regarding the company's pre- and active litigation and dispute docket and provides legal guidance to the Company's business units. Sole oversight, management, and decision-making authority regarding the company's inmate litigation docket; Sole oversight, management, and decision-making authority over the company's subpoena-compliance function, including decisions regarding objecting, moving to quash, or otherwise challenging subpoenas; Exercise management authority over outside counsel assisting in areas under Litigation Counsel III's decision-making authority; Investigate and analyze a broad range of complex legal issues to develop case-assessment and strategic-litigation plans for multiple dispute and litigation matters and, within appropriate limitations, to make autonomous decisions regarding the same; Review, analyze, make recommendations, and, within appropriate limitations, make autonomous decisions regarding statutes, rules, opinions and similar materials on a broad range of legal issues and solutions applicable to the company; Conduct internal fact investigations and risk analyses; Draft, review, and approve various types of agreements including confidentiality, consulting, services agreements, commercial vendor and other services-related agreements, and sales RFPs/RFIs; Use of independent, autonomous judgment, discretion, and initiative, as well as a high degree of skill in interpersonal relations, work organization, professionalism, communications, initiative, and flexibility; and Work collaboratively with internal clients to respond to legal inquiries covering a broad range of topics, set appropriate priorities, and deliver results within the timelines established, and to make autonomous decisions and recommendations regarding the company's positions vis- -vis those inquiries; Perform all related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications: JD Degree. Active state bar license. 6-10+ years experience in all facets of pre-trial litigation, including working directly with clients in the investigation and development and analysis of the matter; drafting and responding to discovery requests; taking and defending depositions; dispositive motion practice, and oral argument/advocacy. Demonstrated track record of exercising autonomous judgment in litigation and pre-litigation dispute matters. 2-3+ years contract review, drafting, and negotiating experience. Preferred: Trial experience is a huge plus. Active Texas bar license. Experience supporting a senior litigation partner. Experience representing state, county, or municipal agencies. Experience supporting an in-house sales organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment with associates. Capability of acting autonomously, planning effectively, and setting appropriate priorities. The ability to: Draft and respond to discovery requests; Conduct online legal research; Draft and respond to dispositive motions; Read and understand complex contract provisions. Draft language for inclusion in legally binding contracts.
