Associate General Counsel & Compliance Officer Duties: Assist in preparing contracts and legal documents. Report to General Counsel and senior management on matters of legal concern. Respond to request for advice and counsel on real estate, healthcare and corporate issues. Oversee the corporate compliance program as well as its HIPAA compliance efforts. Manage and conduct internal compliance investigations, risk assessments, and audits. Assist in the design and implementation of company-wide compliance programs, initiatives, and trainings and report to the company's Compliance Committee as needed. Represent the organization before regulators and other relevant parties across the regions. Conduct risk assessments and develop work plans to address identified risks, including conducting audits and monitoring and tracking activities. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify process improvements, performance measures and compliance risks. Prepare and assist with presenting clear, accurate and timely reports on privacy and data protection risks, risk mitigation measures and compliance activities. Develop, implement and deliver privacy and data protection communications and training, as well as perform internal controls testing against documented processes. Develop strategies, tools, resources and frameworks enabling data use innovation throughout the company while ensuring operational privacy compliance. Draft, review, negotiate all contracts and maintain the master contract data base. Provide legal guidance to Professional's managers and supervisors. Develop and recommend Company policy and position on contract issues. Prepare documents, including but not limited to writing, reviewing and editing contract reports, correspondence, proposals, demands, agreements and other documents pertaining to contract matters. Provide compliance support for special projects/implementation and other business development matters related to contracts. Conduct and coordinate research pertaining to a variety of legal and compliance issues. Work closely with department managers to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice on regulatory issues, including understanding, interpreting, and applying current laws and regulations to Professional's services. Handle all compliance issues that arise in the ordinary course of business in support of stakeholders across the company in a timely and responsive manner. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Juris doctorate from an accredited law school with a license to practice in New York or another state with New York authorized in-house counsel status  required. CHCS (Certified Healthcare Compliance Specialist) strongly preferred. Must have 4 years of legal experience required, with at least 2 in the healthcare industry. Comprehensive understanding of healthcare legal and compliance issues. Knowledge healthcare related contracts and agreements, compliance and regulatory issues, risk management, patient care, healthcare transactions, litigation, corporate law and governance. Must demonstrate a high level of personal integrity and professional judgement. Must be able to work as a team player in collaboration, collegial and respectful manner with senior management, employees and members of the Legal and Compliance Department. Effective communication skills are required; must be accurate, concise and organized in verbal and written communications. Must have excellent time management skills; must be able to adapt and respond to change quickly without negatively impacting work results. Excellent problem-solving skills are required. Must have strong presentation skills. Must have strong negotiation and contracting skills. Strong knowledge of Windows software and capability of learning system programs required. Works well under pressure in order to meet strict deadlines or respond to urgent situations.
