Associate General Counsel, Head Of Compliance And Privacy

Associate General Counsel, Head of Compliance and Privacy Duties: Collaborate and lead multi-functional teams to refine, improve and manage the company's privacy and data security programs, including privacy and data security policies, compliance plans and data incident and response plans. Oversees process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating and acting on data subject access rights requests (e.g., changes to/deletion of information from systems) and complaints. Assist with responding to privacy and data protection-related inquiries, including security questionnaires. Support product development efforts in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Partner with business teams across the company to provide practical advice to minimize risk while championing product innovation and advancing the goals of the business. Monitor and analyze federal and state legal and regulatory changes and implement corrective, remedial and preventive actions when necessary. Assist with contract drafting and negotiations related to privacy and data security, including vendor and customer agreements. Work on and support special projects on an as-needed basis. Qualifications: Must currently be licensed to practice law in Virginia or currently eligible to be admitted under a Virginia Corporate Counsel Certificate. CIPP/US required, CIPP/E strongly desired. 10+ years of attorney experience, of which 4 ? 7 years were in a law firm with increasing responsibility and strong and extensive experience across the substantive legal areas relevant to privacy and data security, including GDPR and CCPA. Experience working on advertising, trademark and marketing issues, including familiarity with FTC regulations, CANSPAM and TCPA. Practical and creative problem-solving approach. Must be an assertive and effective negotiator with the ability to persuade and inspire action with a focus on both short term and long term implications. Must be able to demonstrate a high level of intelligence, independent reasoning, excellent analytical skills and judgment and a strong business acumen. Must have experience juggling multiple clients with competing demands. Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with numerous business teams. Meticulous attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
