In-house Counsel - Employment & Litigation Duties: Provides in-house legal services and support to all areas of the company, including its foreign and domestic subsidiaries and affiliates. Performs project work relating to employment, COVID-19, general litigation, and other matters. Provides legal advice to Human Resources representatives and managers on a wide range of labor & employment and general litigation matters. Investigates, responds to, and resolves employment claims through Hallmark s internal dispute program (which culminates in binding arbitration), and/or that have been filed with federal and state agencies or courts. Investigates, responds to, and handles general litigation matters. Partners with and manages outside counsel in appropriate situations. Stays informed of existing and new legislation or requirements in assigned areas of the law (e.g., wage & hour and leave laws), and proactively supports policies and controls to facilitate compliance. Educates business partners through presentations and advice in an effort to mitigate legal risks. Provides advice on workforce reorganizations, including conducting adverse impact analyses and preparing severance-related documents. Is knowledgeable of e-discovery issues and requirements, and proactively supports processes, policies, technologies and controls to facilitate compliance with such requirements.

Qualifications: JD Degree from an accredited U.S. law school. Licensed to practice law, and an active member in good standing of the bar in the state of Missouri or another U.S. state. 3+ years ? experience working with Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and FLSA. 3+ years ? experience in employment counseling and general or employment litigation/arbitration. Experience with and exposure to U.S. labor laws and administrative structure, including the NLRA and the workings of the NLRB. Strong ability to understand the business needs of internal clients and offer clear, actionable and effective advice. Strong and effective business and legal partnering (internal and external) skills. Sound business and legal judgment, and demonstrates the highest degree of professionalism. Ability to quickly and effectively manage a variety of assignments, under time constraints, and to effectively prioritize workload based on business needs and the company's strategic goals. Strong analytical, interpersonal, problem-solving and project management skills. High level of personal accountability, self-motivation, results orientation and work ethic; is an agile learner and change agent. Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills. Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates attention to detail. Preferred: Experience as in-house counsel or secondment with a corporate law department strongly preferred.
