Senior Attorney - Data Privacy, Security & Product Planner Responsibilities: Further develop and manage implementation of Company's privacy program, including refinement and maintenance of policies and procedures, compliance materials, and employee training; Monitor and advise on developments in the global data protection legislative and regulatory framework, including EU General Data Protection Regulation and its interplay with data protections in other jurisdictions, including the US and India; With help of respective data owners ensure inventory of data assets and processes and associated data flow mappings are recorded and up-to-date; Review and advise on contracts involving the collection, protection, transfer and/or use of data, whether Itron's data, an employee's data, or that of another party such as an Itron customer, vendor or business partner; Assess and refine (as warranted) the Company's incident response plan in collaboration with the Company's IT security team; Assist with data and security incidents and breach responses; Partner closely with and advise the Company's HR, IT security, product and business teams on privacy and data protection-related matters, including privacy by design and industry best practices; In collaboration with other departments (e.g., Information Security, Quality, and Finance) establish an internal privacy and data protection monitoring and audit program and provide support for the same; Gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of various product offerings and their role in the business unit's operations and strategy, together with the knowledge and understanding of the business unit team members responsible for those products; In close partnership with other legal product partners, drive efficient practices and consistencies within the product business units; Ensure business has a repository of legal resources that are required for its various product offerings including contract templates, negotiating playbooks, risk matrices management and other notices/disclosures that may be required; Assist business team members in connecting with other members of the Legal team to meet their needs for specialized legal advice, and ensuring those needs are met in a timely manner; Assist alignment between regional Commercial and Supply Chain legal teams with respect to product business unit objectives; assisting with third-party and other partner ecosystems agreements; Review new product offerings early and often in product lifecycle for early issue spotting on compliance with IP, data privacy, and other global regulations; Provide informational updates to senior leadership and prepare materials for Itron's Board of Directors on data privacy and security matters and legal aspects of product business unit operations; and, Supervise and manage day-to-day work of at least one non-attorney data privacy and security specialist. All tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential functions to this position; however, business conditions may require reasonable accommodations for additional tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications: JD degree from an ABA accredited law school. Admission to at least one State Bar and in good standing; APP membership with certifications such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E and/or CIPP/M (or comparable) is preferred. 8 years of experience either in-house with a multinational, publicly traded company with a mid-tier or large firm, with 5+ years in a role(s) requiring in-depth knowledge and application of data privacy/data protection laws and regulations in at least the US and EU, preferably as counsel to software or technology companies. Experience in drafting, implementing, and managing corporate data privacy and protection policies. Strong background in intellectual property, data protection and other similar regulatory frameworks impacting global technology/managed services companies. Ability to effectively engage with leaders at all levels and collaborate within the legal team and across functions to achieve workable solutions that meet business needs while effectively managing risk. Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. High level of professionalism and integrity with sound legal and business judgment. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining high quality performance and positive attitude under pressure. Willingness to learn new areas and take on new responsibilities within the Legal Department as the need may arise. Commercially minded and comfortable working in a fast-paced senior/executive level environment. Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking as well as an efficient, lean process improvement mindset. Ability and desire to work independently, collaboratively and with little oversight is a must.
