Senior Legal Editor, Real Estate The candidate will take on a leadership role for the Practical Law Real Estate service for California, driving content planning and development of new resources for attorneys handling a variety of routine and complex real estate matters. Will develop, write and edit a wide variety of know-how and current awareness resources on real estate matters (including practice guidance notes, standard documents, checklists, and legal updates) for practicing attorney-subscribers, with a focus on California-specific resources. Monitor real estate related legal developments and legal practice trends in California, with the overarching goal of ensuring our coverage is current, accurate and relevant. Collaborate with other Practical Law editors on content planning and priorities to meet the practice needs of real estate lawyers handling California-specific transactions, and to identify and develop new high-value California-specific and national, resources covering a wide variety of topics including, acquisitions, sales, financing, and leasing of commercial real estate. Help us develop and maintain both California, and national, real estate resources to serve all markets. Establish and maintain relationships with external California-based real estate lawyers to find content contributors and to ensure that the real estate content is topical and meets their needs. Stay informed of current developments and issues in real estate in California, and nationally, to ensure timely updates of existing content and development of new content. Work with sales and marketing teams to promote the Practical Law Real Estate service. The candidate should have 6+ years recent experience working as a real estate attorney in a California law firm, including experience at either a large firm with a real estate group or a boutique firm with a sophisticated real estate practice. Must have clear focus on real estate matters, with an emphasis on handling drafting and negotiating California-specific real estate transactions, optimally including the handling of routine and complex commercial real estate leasing, acquisitions, sales, development, and financing transactions. Experience in handling national commercial leasing matters is also a plus. Must be Actively licensed in California. Should have strong academic credentials.
