General Counsel Regional Head of Legal and Compliance, MRAS Duties: Serve as point of contact for all legal matters affecting the Company; ensure that executives remain apprised of important legal actions that may impact the Company. In partnership with executives across the region, recommend and establish the organizational structure of legal and compliance services in alignment with the mandate from the U.S. P&C Executive Board, which considers efficiencies, industry best practices, the unique business needs of US P&C business units including MR US, Specialty Insurance, MR Facultative and Corporate, American Modern Insurance Group (AMIG) and Hartford Steam Boiler (HSB). Apply deep business acumen and knowledge of P&C (re)insurance industry to offer sound and practical legal advice, research and guidance on business, operational, financial and administrative activities undertaken by the Company. Oversee management of US P&C Legal Services which includes legal and corporate compliance (NA Hub) functions. Responsible for the acquisition, development and retention of legal and compliance talent. Assist the President/CEO and executive leaders in formulating and implementing the Company's mission, critical success factors and objectives. Oversee and manage non-claims litigation e.g. regulatory insolvencies, employment law, etc. Aligns and coordinates strategic priorities with Group Legal to ensure compliance with groupwide guidelines and controls. Serve as Corporate Secretary for legal entity(s) MRAS and MRAm preparing minutes, by-laws, powers of attorney, etc. relating to various stakeholders and board of directors for meeting for legal entity(s) including MRAS, America and its subsidiaries. Oversee and/or align with other US P&C entities as necessary. Monitor legal and regulatory developments; advise management of the legal ramifications of various business activities Create and maintain contacts with industry regulators and bureaus so that Company interests are represented appropriately. Develop recommendations for technology solutions that can streamline legal processes and create efficiencies across legal function in US P&C Operations. Secures and protects service and trademarks.

Qualifications: Law Degree. 15+ years demonstrating sound legal judgment with an insurance company or law firm focusing on property/casualty insurance and general corporate work. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience successfully leading complex, cross-functional teams and assignments. Deep insurance/reinsurance market knowledge and financial and operational acumen and a strong track record of providing legal advice that appropriately balances legal and regulatory requirements with business goals and objectives. Superior communication skills with the ability to adapt complex legal topics depending on the audience. Service delivery mindset and an ability to develop solutions to complex business problems related to the delivery of legal services. Must be able to interact with and develop productive relationships with senior management and high level regulators. Track record of successful interactions with insurance industry regulators. Superior written and oral communication skills. Impeccable ethics and integrity.
