Regulatory Compliance Attorney

Regulatory Compliance Attorney The candidate will coordinate with other members of the Compliance team and other major second line functions, such as Security to (a) understand and document regulatory requirements, (b) implement systems for comprehensively tracking regulatory requirements, (c) monitor compliance with those requirements to inform regulatory reporting, governance and prioritization decisions, and (d) build quality assurance and oversight into all of major compliance functions. Effective communication skills with state and federal regulators. Facilitate the dissemination of legislation and regulations as necessary to support the Company's implementation and compliance efforts. Periodically report and monitor key issues and activities to senior leadership. Create and monitor project work plans to ensure that tasks are identified, executed, and timelines are met. Provide support to Compliance team by analyzing new statutes and regulations for requirements and legislative intent necessary for effective implementation. Develop recommendations for how Vera will comply with new laws and regulations. Assist with drafting and reviewing of policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Established reputation as the go-to person for regulatory issues.

A Legal degree required. 3-4 years of experience with healthcare compliance required. 1-2 years experience presenting information and respond to questions from Executives, Medical Directors, department directors preferred, 1-2 years demonstrated experience driving a project to its completion. Desired experience includes: counseling on various federal and state regulatory requirements (e.g. HIPAA, fraud and abuse analysis, licensure); coordinating physician practice compliance; and advise on payment issues, including Medicare and Medicaid. 1-year knowledge of Medicare is desirable. Experience with state corporate/medical office licensing preferred.
