Legal Counsel, Employment & Compliance The candidate will provide pragmatic advice and support to the Human Resources team and business on all aspects and stages of the employment relationship. Guide, design, review, and support HR policies, guidelines, and best practices. Manage internal investigations relating to employment-related matters, including investigations stemming from the Ethics Hotline. Monitor and provide research, guidance, and advice regarding a range of labor and employment laws and regulations, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, OSHA, HIPAA, ERISA, and data privacy. Manage outside counsel with respect to unemployment claims, subpoenas, immigration, and discovery. Aid in the management of employment-related litigation holds. Support employment-related federal contractor obligations (e.g., Affirmative Action Plans). Assist with the development and delivery of compliance and Human Resources trainings and programs. Assist with employment-related due diligence and determination of risks in acquisitions. Assist with drafting and review of employment-related agreements, including temporary agency and contractor agreements, severance agreements, and employment agreements. Participate in Legal and HR initiatives and projects.

The candidate should have a JD and admitted to the bar in the State of Ohio. Four to nine(4-9) years of labor and employment law experience at a law firm and/or in-house. A combination of law firm and in-house experience is preferred. Advanced understanding of federal and Ohio employment laws. Works collaboratively with all internal functions, internal clients, and external counsel. Ability to work with non-legal business teams will be crucial. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization. Should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple, complex matters successfully with a minimum level of supervision. Strong ability to recognize issues and provide practical and compliant solutions. Ability to traverse between multiple locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Occasional international travel may also be required. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions of the job consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local laws, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local laws. This role requires a pro-active and practical attorney with strong expertise in U.S. and Ohio employment laws, and the ability to work closely with local counsel regarding employment matters outside of the U.S.
