Senior Counsel, IP Litigation The candidate will manage patent and other IP litigation. Manage pre-litigation patent licensing discussions. Manage defensive and offensive PTAB proceedings. Manage and/or counsel on other pre-litigation IP disputes. Develop firm strategy for addressing IP litigation, including strategy for managing the risk of patent assertions by non-practicing entities and competitors. Implement best practices and processes for handling IP disputes and maintaining records. Manage outside counsel. Manage fact development, witness identification, document production, and legal strategy for IP disputes. Negotiate, draft, and review settlement agreements. Manage IP litigation budget. Provide strategic support for firm patent development and acquisition program. Counsel on IP risk. Monitor IP decisions, legislation, and policy throughout the world; identify opportunities to influence developments. 8+ years of experience litigating and managing patent and other IP disputes in the United States required. District court and PTAB experience required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Strong organizational and process-development skills required. Undergraduate degree in computer science or related field required. Bar admission and JD from a top-tier law school required. Law firm and in-house experience in the tech industry preferred. Experience with IP disputes in foreign jurisdictions preferred. Registered patent lawyer preferred. Trademark, copyright, trade secret, and antitrust dispute experience preferred. Outstanding presentation and PowerPoint skills preferred. Expertise with audio, video, Web, and cloud technologies, codecs, and standards preferred.
