Managing Director, Global Privacy Counsel

Managing Director, Global Privacy Counsel The candidate will lead a team of regional Privacy attorneys and continue to build upon company's global privacy program. Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, will provide strategic, smart risk-based global privacy legal advice and support to company's business units, HR, internal audit and legal teams. Provide strategic privacy legal guidance to company's privacy managers on Privacy-by-Design/Privacy-by-Default legal requirements. Collaborate with key stakeholders in the assessment of company's global privacy regulatory risks; and provide advice and recommendations to the business on identified enterprise privacy risks as well as best practice sharing with regional legal teams. Advise on privacy policies and procedures for company's global privacy program in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations. Act as an escalation point for the drafting and negotiation of global data privacy provisions in contracts with authorized third parties and customers. Drive cross-functional privacy governance meetings with key internal stakeholders. Create and perform targeted privacy trainings and awareness across the enterprise. Co-lead privacy investigations as privileging attorney and integrate lessons learned back into company's global privacy program. Provide support on company's M&A transactions. The candidate should have a J.D. degree with admission to at least one State Bar. Must have 10+ years of global privacy legal experience advising on data privacy laws compliance and regulatory risks management, including experience managing a global privacy compliance program. Sound technical expertise on privacy risk is required with general knowledge of foundational requirements of privacy laws and best practices in the United States & Canada and at least one other region (e.g. Asia, Europe and/or South America). Experience providing strategic legal support to ensure GDPR and CCPA compliance readiness by an organization is needed. European and United States IAPP privacy certifications desired. Expertise with privacy laws in Asia is a huge plus. HR privacy legal expertise is an asset.
