Senior Counsel Legal & Business Affairs - Employment

Senior Counsel Legal & Business Affairs - Employment Duties: Provide daily advice and counsel on employment law issues, under direction of supervisor. Oversee investigations into discrimination and other employment-related charges filed with city/state/federal agencies and written responses. Partner with Company leadership on the management and defense of employment-related litigation. Review termination decisions for employees at agreed-upon levels in the organization, and prepare and negotiate separation documentation. Provide advice and counsel on background check matters, immigration matters and independent contractor requests. Work cross-functionally on policy updates, drafting and review, as well as implementation and compliance. Review and negotiate certain agreements with third parties and employees (e.g., Fresh Start, certain vendor agreements). Secondarily, serve as a general corporate attorney, providing cross-functional services across the Legal department.

Qualifications: Legal education and JD from top accredited law school required; 4-6 years experience of employment law. Knowledge of NY employment laws required; CA and NV specific employment laws a plus. Experience with/interest in compensation and benefits matters a plus. Extensive Employment Law background; in house experience a plus. Ability to analyze complex, challenging, and sensitive employment law and ethics issues. Licensed to practice in New York or eligible for registration in New York as in-house counsel.
