Privacy Counsel

Privacy Counsel The candidate will support the global expansion of Firms by monitoring, interpreting, and applying the relevant US and international laws and regulations, especially those related to cybersecurity, privacy, data governance and other relevant areas, as they may apply to the Firm's business. Will provide legal advice and direction to all stakeholders across the company on matters regarding privacy and data protection. Develop customer-facing collateral on privacy topics, to foster understanding and trust in Firms' privacy practices. Work with commercial attorneys to facilitate negotiation of privacy and security terms with customers and with suppliers, by providing training, templates, playbooks, contract reviews, and support in contract negotiations. Partner with product counsel to help identify and address the privacy impact of product features and to implement privacy by design. Create and provide training and written guidance to legal team members, clients and cross-functional stakeholders on current and emerging privacy issues. Provide data incident response legal support. Partner with the Information Security, Information Technology, and Product teams to implement privacy by design, to adopt best practices for management and protection of personal information, and to develop appropriate policies and standards. Develop and deliver training and communications on privacy topics. Manage outside counsel on privacy matters. Handle special projects as requested. The candidate should have 5-7 years of relevant privacy experience in the technology or a regulated industry sector. Must be qualified to practice in at least one U.S. state, preferably California, with a law degree from a reputable law school. Working knowledge of national and international privacy laws, including HIPAA as it applies to Business Associates, is required. Superior language, written and verbal communication skills needed. Experience in high technology or telecommunication companies preferred.
