Legal Counsel - Litigation Duties: Manage litigation for all business channels to reduce costs and ensure that the company's interests are properly protected. Research and analyze facts in litigation and relay to external counsel. Prepare, review, and/or revise all pleadings, discovery, motions and settlement agreements.. Represent the company in depositions, mediations, and trials as needed. Obtain competent and cost-effective counsel and oversee case strategy for all pending litigation. Oversee pre-litigation dispute resolution and ensure necessary records and information are maintained to protect the company interests in the event of litigation. Report and distribute to senior manager and directors litigation reports as needed. Create periodic status reports and litigation reports for internal and external auditor use as well as for all regulatory filings. Proactively advise senior management and directors on potential litigation risks and liabilities. Obtain coverage under relevant insurance policies where possible and act as a liaison to insurance companies throughout the course of litigation. Oversight and management of indemnification claims and recoupment activities. Be a centralized point of contact between business units and outside legal counsel. Assist with day-to-day legal questions regarding potential litigation. Negotiate dispute resolutions, and various agreements with third-parties. In conjunction with General Counsel, establish policies and processes for selecting, compensating, and managing outside counsel, and other assistance necessary for investigating, negotiating, and litigating. Requirements: High-level multi-tasking with proficiency in organization, analysis, problem resolution, and case management.. Excellent oral and written communication skills for extensive interaction with external counsel and management at all levels of business hierarchy as well as the customer base. Extensive interaction with external counsel, executive management, and business units. Must possess high degree of discretion and judgment in evaluating strategy and problem resolution, while managing multiple deadlines across cases. Strong negotiation skills. Excels in a fast-paced environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Some travel required.
