Counsel, Employment Law The candidate will be executing common litigation activities, including negotiation, legal writing, oral advocacy, and counseling. Preparing and responding to motions, performing legal research, propounding and responding to discovery, attending court conferences, and handling discovery-related activities. Engaging in factual investigation, analyze complex legal and factual issues, and independently develop and recommend defense strategies. Handling cases from retention through a trial with minimal supervision. Assist General Counsel and other Company customers with other matters as needed. Performs basic work under the supervision of General Counsel. Support the company in the stated areas of Safety, Customer Focus, Teamwork, Integrity, and being a Company of Choice for both employees and customers.

The candidate must have a JD from a law school accredited by the ABA and admission to practice in California with experience of 2 years in Employment & labor law, experience handling employment-related litigation in California is preferred. Should have a valid license to practice law in California. Must have a working knowledge of the legal principles that govern the employer-employee relationship. Must understand laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and workers compensation laws. Must possess strong customer services skills, high-level analytical and writing skills, and the ability to work independently. Should have extensive knowledge in all aspects of employment law including wrongful termination, discrimination, retaliation, harassment, and wage and hour individual and class action claims. Should be extremely detailed oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and manage priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Should have strong planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills. and strong verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail and accurate work product. Must have the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, operating under tight deadlines. Strong computer skills, a good working knowledge of standard office technology and equipment, and general office procedures. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook needed.
