Corporate Counsel - Employment The candidate will investigate and defend state and federal charges of discrimination, wage/hour audits, and other regulatory complaints, including preparation of position statements and other responsive documents. Conduct internal investigations related to employment law and corporate compliance matters. Support VP, Legal in research, advice, and counsel related to employment laws and regulations. Manage employment-related litigation matters and oversee outside counsel on such matters. To support the HR team in labor relations matters such as the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, handling of union grievances, labor arbitrations, and ULP charges, implementation of union avoidance best practices and respond to labor organizing campaigns. Support the drafting of employment, settlement, and separation agreements. Support employment-related hotline investigations. Assist in development and presentation of education and training materials to HR and business stakeholders. Assist in employment-related aspects of company special projects such as mergers/acquisitions, as well as reductions in force and location closings (e.g., severance, WARN Act). Support preparation of materials for quarterly reporting up of employment law and compliance matters to senior executive leadership and Compliance team. Required Education and Experience required. Juris Doctorate degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school required. Licensed to practice law in at least one state with the ability to become licensed in Utah required. 5 years of employment law experience required. Experience investigating and defending state and federal charges of discrimination, wage/hour audits, and other regulatory complaints, including preparation of position statements and other responsive documents required. Experience conducting internal investigations required. Exceptional written communication skills required. Exceptional attention to detail, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills required. Wage and Hour/FLSA experience required. High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work in a proactive and service-oriented manner required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
