Corporate Counsel (Regulatory Compliance) Duties: Develop and implement strategies, policies, procedures, and training for vehicle regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. Maintain training for and provide advice to technical staff, government relations staff, engineering team and executive management on laws and regulations applicable to battery electric vehicles and their component parts, including NCAP, NHTSA regulations, FMVSS, other state and federal requirements, and equivalent EU and international regulations. Prepare, review, and submit regulatory filings and related documents, including TREAD Act, new product compliance reports, and recall reports. Provide support in navigation of state dealership and franchise laws. Support internal efforts in homologation, engineering, telematics, and services in the development of new vehicles, services, and features. Monitor and review proposed laws and regulations and provide support in government relations and lobbying efforts. Provide proactive counsel and strategic input on regulatory frameworks with a focus on leveraging regulations to promote our electric commercial vehicles. Represent before U.S. federal and state authorities, agencies, administrative tribunals, and courts in regulatory matters. Counsel stakeholders on product liability and complex litigation risks. Develop and implement risk-reduction strategies related to non-compliance with existing laws and regulations.

Requirements: Law degree (JD Degree) from an ABA-accredited institution. Eligible to practice law in California. 6-10 years of experience in regulatory, government relations, and/or automotive product liability. Demonstrated Contract Drafting Skills. Proven negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills for commercial contracts, including procurement and sales agreements. Workflow Prioritization Demonstrated ability to prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects. Agile in a fast-past environment. We move, and we move quickly. You have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills Helpful Experience (not required) Experience working for an OEM, auto supplier, government safety agency, or law firm with a focus on the aforementioned. Significant OEM or transportation experience.
