Compliance Counsel

Compliance Counsel Duties: Develop, maintain, and execute an annual policy and procedure plan and serve as the go-to expert on Compliance infrastructure. Draft all policies, procedures, and guidance and lead cross-functional teams to ensure business stakeholders are involved in policy creation, have an opportunity to provide feedback, and support implementation and enforcement of the policy infrastructure. Maintain the anonymous reporting hotline, conduct inquiries and investigations in conjunction with the Assurance team, and report out findings to the Compliance Officer, OBIE Committees, and senior management. Support Litigation matters and investigations. Lead operational and cross-functional initiatives supporting company and OBIE key initiatives. Support training and communications as well as OBIE Business Partner initiatives. Maintain high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations and government enforcement trends and inform and educate business units with tailored communications.

Qualifications: JD Degree or law degree. 8-10 years in biotech or pharmaceutical Compliance either in-house or a combination of private law practice and in-house experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Consummate team player with excellent judgment and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated experience taking ownership of issues and driving solutions. Deep knowledge of biotech/pharmaceutical industry regulations, applicable local codes, and anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws and extensive experience working for biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies on these issues. Demonstrated ability to conduct complex inquiry and investigations discretely and professionally under time pressure. Experience defining and enforcing standards via policies and procedures, drafting and implementing training and communications, and facilitating internal reporting. Superior communication, presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated project leadership, management, and execution skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities simultaneously. Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees, both in writing and verbally. Demonstrated ability to identify areas for improvement in controls, systems and processes and implement effective solutions. Self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to meet goals given limited supervision; able to exercise sound judgment in balancing risks in ambiguous and complex situations and escalating matters appropriately. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive experience working with biotechnology/pharmaceutical companies and matrix organizations, with solid legal and Compliance experience. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and codes relating to healthcare fraud and abuse and regulated pharmaceutical products, specifically anti-bribery/anti-corruption laws and pharmaceutical laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines. Demonstrated strong commitment to compliance, ethics, and accountability. Flexibility to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment with a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to travel approximately 35% of time. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Word and PPT). Advanced English language skills.
