Corporate Counsel, Employment The candidate will serve as the primary employment attorney for Google Cloud, working closely with the People Operations organization to handle and support compliance, employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, employment law claims, and labor matters. Advise on a broad range of employment issues, including HR practices, performance management, terminations, recruiting, hiring, background checks, compensation and benefits, wage and hour, labor relations, non-compete agreements, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. Respond to inquiries and charges related to EEOC, OFCCP, Office of Civil Rights, DFEH, and NLRB. Draft employment policies and programs that balance legal risk with business impact. Manage litigation and supervise outside counsel. Train managers and employees on various employment law issues. Must have J.D. or equivalent practical experience. Should have admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in the state where hired. Must have 5 years of experience in employment law at a law firm. Direct or indirect (e.g., via a secondment) in-house experience desired. Experience advising in the technology industry at a U.S. multinational corporation preferred. Experience with data protection and intellectual property ownership issues in the employment context desired. Experience in advising, implementing, and managing HR/employment policies and litigation on restrictive hiring covenants (e.g., non-competes). Experience in interacting with OFCCP, EEOC, state and local EEO agencies on complex matters preferred.
