Senior Counsel, Privacy And Data

Senior Counsel, Privacy and Data Duties: Advise and support cross-functional teams on privacy and data security related issues, including CPRA, VCDPA, GDPR, security incident response, biometrics, email, texting, and marketing and personalization initiatives. Track, comment on and provide practical and understandable advice regarding existing and emerging federal and state laws related to the privacy and data security related topics noted above. Monitor privacy and data security trends and best practices affecting the retail industry and determine whether/how to apply across the company. Review and negotiate contracts, with a focus on privacy and data security related initiatives or provisions. Serve as primary counsel for Privacy and Risk Assessment teams. Support Litigation team as subject matter expert on privacy and data security. Provide support on other legal areas and initiatives, as needed. Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Qualifications: JD Degree. Licensed attorney with 6+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience and relevant state bar membership. 5+ years related experience. Practices open and continuous communication, values keeping others informed, effectively presenting information in a clear, concise manner. Excellent leadership, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across functional lines and at many levels. Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs. Knowledge of MS Office computer programs are required. Deep knowledge of privacy and data security laws, including CCPA, VCPDA, email, texting, behavioral targeting, and security incident response. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong ability to analyze legal and factual issues, provide practical and focused advise based on balancing business needs and risk, build excellent relationships with business colleagues, and write concisely for external and internal audiences.
