Senior Counsel Labor & Employment Duties: As part of the Companies legal team, provide guidance and support to Human Resources on all legal matters directly related to the Company's employees. Provide preventive, proactive legal advice and solutions on a broad range of employment practice topics including, discrimination, harassment, performance, discipline and separations, leaves of absence and accommodations, recruiting, hiring, benefits, wage and hour issues, compensation, employment-related contracts, severance agreements, and labor relations issues. Responsible for structuring, negotiating, and drafting various employment and labor related contracts and employee policies, including severance documents, general releases, and employment agreements. Assist and support the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel with complex contractual issues and strategic matters, including executive employment agreements and board level matters, as needed. Proactively assess potential legal risks to the business and work with members of the Human Resources team in order to develop and implement processes and solutions to manage these potential risks. Conduct or oversee internal investigations and work with Human Resources to formulate recommendations for resolution. Deliver or assist in developing guidance and delivering training and communications regarding employment law, relevant legal updates, and compliance issues. Support the company's global Human Resources teams. This may include drafting and negotiating employment related agreements, employee policies, employee and management training and review of key employee related communications. Instruct and manage external counsel, where required, to ensure local legal compliance and effectively manage litigation and agency charges. Proactively partner and work with other Companies legal team members to drive local alignment with global best practices and active knowledge sharing. Assist with corporate transactions, including mergers & acquisitions in the Americas.

Qualifications: Juris Doctorate received from an accredited law school (or similar degree from an educational institution outside of the United States). Admitted (and in good standing) to practice as an attorney in a U.S. state (and/or another jurisdiction in which the person can qualify for registration as an in-house counsel). Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university (or similar degree from an educational institution outside of the United States). Experience of delivering pragmatic legal advice to meet business objectives. 5+ years of directly related experience. Prefer experience in working in an in-house environment or large law firm. Generalist with a broad base of labor and employment experience in a corporate setting. Demonstrable experience in federal and state level employment and labor law will be a distinct advantage. Background in medical devices, pharmaceutical or health care industry is preferable, though not essential. Substantial experience drafting and negotiating contracts for complex employee situations; and the ability to analyze complex situations and communicate to internal stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and clients. The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of other disciplines, often across regions and time zones. Excellent business acumen and ability to think strategically. The ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
