Senior Counsel- Employment and Labor Responsibilities: Provide advice and counsel on a daily basis regarding various employment related topics to company management. Understand U.S. employment-related laws and legal issues, including but not limited to, Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA compliance, wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, classification of employees, labor/employee relations, restrictive covenants, and policy development and implementation in support of those laws. Oversee the investigation and preparation of responses to administrative charges and/or complaints filed with the DOL, EEOC, and various state and local civil rights agencies, including the supervision and management of outside counsel, as necessary. Engage with state and federal agencies to manage Sprouts relationship. Assist in developing, reviewing, and revising employee policies and procedures. Investigate complaints of unfair or inappropriate treatment of employees or alleged illegal conduct. Prepare/review/provide legal advice with respect to service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other formal agreements with employees necessary to safeguard the company's interests. Monitor new legislation and make recommendations to the business and HR teams. Oversee the work of outside counsel in employment-related claims and manage litigation generally. Develop and deliver training programs for the HR team and Sprouts managers in compliance with federal and state law, internal policies, and best practices. Track, monitor and advise the business on all non-safety related COVID matters and advise on business impacts. Manage litigation budget. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the law in areas of special interest.

Qualifications: In good standing with AZ or CA state bar; excellent academic and law firm credentials.12+ years of legal experience in a diverse array of labor and employment matters, including ADA, EPA, FLSA, FMLA, NLRA, Title VII and similar state and federal laws and regulations. (California experience required). In-house experience in a multi-unit retailer with locations in California is a plus. Responsive, self-motivated attorney with strong inter-personal skills. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent advocacy, communication, and drafting skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal clients and colleagues. Strong organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle, prioritize, and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously. Experience conducting independent legal analysis of laws and legal risks, and the ability to make reasoned decisions/recommendations while considering the operational realities and needs of the business. Must have excellent academic credentials, solid research, writing, analytical and interpersonal skills and a proven track record at an outside law firm and corporate legal department. Will have 12+ years of practice and multi-unit national retail experience in a diverse array of labor and employment matters, including in the State of California. Will work well in a team environment and have the strong interpersonal skills necessary to interface with business and legal executives regularly and effectively. Desired Qualifications: Significant experience representing public multi-unit retail companies in labor and employment matters. Labor relations negotiations and/or union avoidance training. General business experience.
