Legal Counsel, Consumer and Business Banking Duties: Acts as legal/technical expert providing advice, insights and solutions to clients and consultants on applicable legal/technical and compliance issues affecting Consumer and Business Banking products, services, strategies, programs, plans (design and operations), and practices. Analyzes key policy, legislative and legal developments and issues, and shares advice, insights and solutions with internal and external clients. Researches relevant legal issues and technical and industry specific topics. Reviews current developments in the area of legal/technical expertise, prepares complex technical analyses and develops advice, insights, and solutions. Acts as an individual contributor and a subject matter expert on Consumer and Business Banking legal and regulatory matters.

Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Law / J.D. degree, and active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction. 5-9 years of experience practicing law in law firm or financial services firm with experience in Consumer Banking regulatory and/or legal matters. Ability to be highly responsive and organized. Ability to provide practical and pragmatic advice. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize and manage workload, simultaneous tasks, and meet deadlines with a changing fast-paced environment. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and client relations skills. Excellent legal and analytical skills and a business-oriented approach to problem solving. Solid understanding of legal documents, contracts and agreements, and drafting experience. Strong understanding of state and local laws. Addresses customer's requests, ensures concerns are recorded accurately and action is initiated appropriately. Makes extra effort to satisfy customers needs and meet commitments. Assesses problem situations and initiates effective interventions that result in customer satisfaction. Takes time to develop and maintain relationships with customers. Communicates in a timely and straightforward manner. Probes for additional information, clarifies assumptions and confirms agreed-upon actions. Keeps everyone involved informed about progress and issues. Communicates the importance and benefits of risk management to counterparts. Displays natural skepticism and curiosity to question the status quo and uncover issues Adheres to a good root cause analysis process. Creates a good working environment in the team; works towards shared goals contributing ideas and accepting change. Provides assistance and coaches less experienced team members. Displays initiative, flexibility and focus to get things done. Actively contributes ideas, suggestions, and constructive comments in meetings and discussions. Follows through to meet commitments to others. Takes responsibility for achieving strong results, despite balancing multiple complex demands. Identifies the component parts of a complex situation or problem and the relationship among variables that are not obvious. Knows who to reach out to inside and outside of one's team to get work done. Takes action to enhance working relationships needed to achieve seamless work flow. Sees through complexity and detail to get to the critical issues at hand. Takes into account the wider context within which problems exist. Stays current with industry and regulatory trends and emerging risk issues. Has good understanding of current market and competitive landscape that the organization operates within.
